For a moment, imagine yourself as a filmmaker who has been given this scenario to make a film – three flatmates who fall for the same hot, young woman but she is no damsel in distress but a strong woman with a mind of her own. If you were told to make a romantic comedy out of this basic plot line, what would you have done?

Department: Movie Review (2012)

Movie Review (2012)
Film:
“Department”
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati, Abhimanyu Singh and Madhu Shalini
Director: Ram Gopal Varma
Shoot at sight. Point blank. In different ways that’s exactly what Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) and his characters do in “Department”.
While his cop heroes Sanjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati and their hazily sketched compatriots (one of whom looks like Deepak Tijori) go on a cleansing rampage against socio-paths, RGV goes on his own trip, shooting characters at angles you’ve never seen them being shot. They don’t always look fetching with their stained teeth and dirty nails showing up in embarrassing close-ups. So, who said life in cinema is about postcard pictures?

Hollywood The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel: Movie Review (2012)

Movie Review
Film:
“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”
Cast: Judi Dench, Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, Dev Patel and Lillette Dubey
Director: John Madden
Is old age the wait for the inevitable? But this inevitable was staring even in youth! Why is it that we get tired the older we get – tired to try new things. And what if circumstances force us to do exactly that? Will we rediscover the zest for life or will we give up without a fight because we believe we’re too old to fight?
“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” (TBEMH) by “Shakespeare In Love” director John Madden confronts these questions in a hilarious, adventurous, light-hearted and yet poignant way. It is one of the best ‘exotic’ films to have come into theatres in a longtime.

IPL : Tellywood

Telly serial makers have pitted many actors and actresses for their new shows to be launched post cricket extravaganza, IPL 5. Since the T20 matches are in their last leg, the telly serial makers are gearing up for their new shows that will go on air once the IPL is over.
Undeterred by the enthusiasm for the cricket extravaganza in the year 2008, the telly makers had launched some new serials which failed to garner the audience’s attention. And since then, the makers never launched any new TV serials during the IPL season. And same has been followed this year as well; the makers are waiting for the IPL to get over so that they can move ahead and give daylight to their new TV shows by launching them.
Ace producer Rajan Shahi said though the fact considered is that the cricket viewing audience is different from daily soap viewing but the earlier year’s failure to daily soaps launched during IPL proved that IPL pomp and show garners more eye balls.
He further mentioned that IPL now has become an entertainment show wherein Bollywood biggies are spotted and they steal the limelight which affects TV serials’ TRPs.
The shows that are all set to be launched post IPL are dance reality show- ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, family show- ‘Byah Hamari Bahu Ka’, reality game show- ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 6’, singing reality show- ‘Indian Idol 6’ and romantic comedy show ‘Tere Ishq Nachchaya’.
Soon, the telly serial lovers will get a refreshing TV serial platter post IPL.
